The game has vsync on by default and cannot be changed. My old monitor only manages 60 Hz refresh at 1280x960 so my max fps is 60. I always get 60 in instances. However in a crowded town, it drops to below 30 sometimes.
So your fps might just be normal.

Update your drivers. Lower your settings.

When it comes to stuff like this on laptops are we just out of luck? I can't upgrade my gfx card in my laptop and I have a Mobility Radeon 7500. Is there a way to upgrade the drivers? If so can you tell me or give link to where I can?

Visit your manufacturers website. They should have driver updates, if they don't sue em.

Most laptop manufacturers have a severe lack in wanting to update the drivers for there cards.
Personally, I won't be buying another laptop until this gets resolved and we can finally see more drivers being updated when they are released by the GPU designers.
Laptops are becoming more widely used for gaming purposes and luckily, my current laptop runs Guild Wars fairly well. However, I don't use it too much for gaming as it's not as fast as my desktop and the use of a proper keyboard and mouse makes it much easier.
Why they don't make it so that Laptops can finally swap out the Graphics Cards, when technology has come so far and is shrinking all the time, I don't know, but I'm sure that would be a fantastic thing to have.
At least then you could just swap it out and keep up to do date with the gaming world.
I would think with a 7500 you won't have any drivers for it that will enable you to play very well at all.
ATI, thankfully with there new X800 range of mobility chips, have finally started to release Mobile Drivers for laptops. This is a major step forward, but more is needed on the laptop front.
Oh well, just my thoughts on this subject.

i have x800xl which is a $300 card (almost equvilant to nvidia 6800gt) and 3700+ cpu amd athlon 64, as well as asus a8n sli mobo, i have no idea why i'm getting under 30 fps in towns and parts of the game, it has bad split screen when this happens too.
i was told with the x800xl there's no way in hell i should get under 50 fps on full detail.

When does the fps drop? What drivers are you using? Is it just guild wars that lacks game performance?

it goes to 20-30fps in crowded towns, and just some areas that arn't crowded at all.
i think i even saw it hit 10.

I hate to say this but it seems your configuration isn't right somewhere. It's true with the X800XL, the game should be performing marvelously.

My average fps in towns is around 70, but it does occasionally drop to the 1-3 fps due to the high CPU usage. Otherwise in the process of fighting, my average FPS is 100. I only have a 9700 pro radeon video card, but it works just fine for me. From my other FPS post, it looks like your FPS is a lot better than other peoples' in the game, so don't worry too much!

How the hell do you get that high FPS with that card? Post the rest of your specs if you can, please.

Yeah no problem; I will post a screen shot later with my fps to make sure that I'm correct..I hope I am at least..
My specs:
Processor: Pentium 4 CPU 3.2 GHz
RAM: 512 MB
Vid card: Pro Radeon 9700
Motherboard: Intel D875PBZ Motherboard
Sound Card: Creative Soundblaster Audigy W/1394
The computer is about 2-3 years old and it is an Alienware.
EDIT:: Screenshots -
This is the average FPS when I'm fighting, which is 117.
This is a high FPS when I'm town (but it is a small town =P)

i put it on performance and got it up to 200 fps, 150 during battle, the thing is, it actually performs WORSE than when it's in the 30-50's, the lag is horrible, you can see a lot of split screen going on where it's loading things, makin me mad how the higher fps i get it, the lower the quality (not graphic whise, speed whise, in lag and such)

so does anyone know why when i put the graphic quality all the way to "performance" instead of putting it on "balanced" that my fps shoot up to 150-200, but the split screen, and loading times are much more noticable, making it harder to play... i thought higher fps means LESS split screen action, and time between loads.
i put it on "quality" instead of "balanced" and i get the best results, a steady 60fps anywhere, except the writing on things is off, like a item on the ground will have a gold tint underneat it that isn't suposed to be there, or my friend list will have a gold tint.
i've tried 2 drivers, the official cd one, and the one on the site, i don't know any others.
if the dirvers don't fix it, could the card be bad?
also a HUGE thing i noticed, is when trying to view a music video, like on yahoo on the internet, all i can see are color's, the sound is fine, but the video is nothing but blue pink, red, orange, green, moving like normal, but impossible to tell what's going on.
this happend with both drivers.
is this a hardware problem and i need to replace it?
